Andrew Lee’s story has inspired me to start making quilts of valor and donate them to veterans in my area. Looking forward to this fun project.

I have made several Quilt of Valor quilts over the years. They always make me feel good that I can honor a veteran.

My dad was a US Marine who fought in the Korean battle at the Chosin Reservoir. I’m making this quilt for a veteran thinking of him.
Thanks for the chance to do this!!

I am a member of the QOV group as part of our local guild and we meet on the last Saturday of the month when we are not in a lockdown. Our leader cuts out kits and we take one and sew until we are too tired to sew another stitch. Over the years we have made lots and lots of quilts and have presented many also.
Carol on September 30 2021 at 11:31AM
I I have not made a QOV for myself but I have participated in several that a group I belong to have made and presented to veterans I’ll look forward to doing one on my own

My local VFW Auxiliary is starting a monthly Sew and Share. I created a poppy block to get us started, but this looks like a fun project to share.

I’m in and I’ve picked my fabric. I had to order my background and it’s supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I’d show what I’ve picked but I have been unable to find where we can post about fabrics, etc.

My quilt guild, the Casual Quilters of Brighton, Michigan has a very active QOV program. I’ve made at least 5 tops myself and bound many too after the longarmer completed quilting. We have volunteer days where we cut and assemble kits, and everyone is welcome to take one and complete it. We raise money for backings and batting’s at our annual tag sale. Everyone pitches in. I know we’ve made over 1000 quilts. It’s a great cause!

I have never made a quilt for a veteran. But as a veteran I have received one while in the VA hospital in San Antonio, TX. It made me feel special and cherished. I would like to return the favor.

I’m Alaska State Coordinator for Quilts of Valor® Foundation. Nearly all of my quilts go to deserving service members or veterans. Love Lisa Sutherland’s patterns, too!

I made two for our children who served in the Marine Corps and also 4 that were donated to Quilt of Valor. I also donated a finished top to Andrew Lee who finished it and honored a service personal for his service. This quilt will be made and given to my nephew who is serving today in the Army (18 years).

Not sure yet if this will fit with my other projects but if I do make it will be in honor of my deceased Army veteran husband who passed from agent orange complications in 2013.
