"In 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Morocco not once but twice, a country I had never even dreamed I would set foot in. Despite my extensive research beforehand, nothing could have prepared me for the sheer wonder of this captivating country.

The tour delved into every facet of Morocco and its rich cultural tapestry. We navigated the bustling, labyrinthine medina of Marrakesh and strolled through the enchanting blue streets of Chefchaouen.

We were lucky to visit some women's co-ops, where they generously shared the artistry behind their diverse crafts as well as their lovely food. We witnessed local artisans meticulously crafting ceramics by hand.

Morocco's boundless beauty provided endless amounts of inspiration, from the earthy tones of its traditional terracotta architecture juxtaposed against the vast expanse of the sky to the intricate tile motifs adorning every surface. The Sahara Desert's golden sands left me spellbound, while the Kaleidoscope of Hues found in natural dyes and woven textiles were truly awe-inspiring. I hope that through making this quilt, you will get a sense of the deep love and affection I have for Morocco and its people.

The memories forged during these journeys are deeply cherished, sparking within me the desire to pen a love letter to Morocco through my craft. And so the inspiration for the block of the month was born." ~ Jen Kingwell
